Biographical Sketch

Massimo Farina is an Assistant Professor at the University of Cagliari, Italy since 2017. He received a M.Sc. degree in Law in 2001 and his Ph.D. in Computer Law in 2016. In 2004 he worked for four years as a researcher at the Consortium for the Promotion of University Studies in Central Sardinia – in the “Private Law and Public Administration” Sector, subject of the research: “Digital Signature”. In 2011 he obtained the II Level University Master’s Degree in “Computer Law and Theory of legislation” at University of Rome “Sapienza” and in 2019 he obtained the II Level University Master’s Degree in “Data Protection Officer and Privacy Law” at the University of Naples Suor Orsola Benincasa.

In 2013, he has been, for six months, a research fellow as part of the MARCO POLO program for the scientific training abroad of young researchers from the University of Bologna. Research topic: diffusion of cloud computing in the Romanian Public Administration as an e-government tool “. Host foreign structure: Department of Electronics and Computers, University of Brasov (Romania-Transilvania).

Currently, he is Data Protection Officer at University of Cagliari and co-founder of an academic spin-off (GreenShare s.r.l.) which works in the mobility sector. His main research interests are in legal aspect of the Internet of Things (IoT), Data protection, computer crimes adnd digital forensics.
